Ph.D. Oral Defense

In the semester of dissertation defense (oral defense):

  1. 1. Students must confirm with their advisors if the subject of their planned dissertation matches the department’s field of expertise at an initial stage of the dissertation-writing process.
  2. 2. Dissertation topic and research objectives must be reviewed by at least 3 committees (must qualified as assistant professor or above/including advisor), and students must submit Department of Chemical Engineering (Taiwan Tech) Opinion Sheet for Degree Thesis Professional Field Recognition to the department office within 14 days before the add/drop deadline in the semester of their oral defense.

Before oral defense :
Submit the following documents, which in your student information system, to the department office (at least two weeks before oral defense, the earlier is better):

  1. 1. Doctoral Dissertation Exam Application Form.
  2. 2. Doctoral Dissertation Recommendation Form.
  3. 3. NTUST Thesis/Dissertation Supervision Approval Form.
  4. 4. NTUST Application for Co-Supervision of Thesis/Dissertation (if need it).
  5. 5. List for Doctoral Degree Examination Committee Members (the detailed standards for determining the qualifications listed above under article II.3 or II-4 shall be given supporting documents and approved by our department).
  6. 6. Official transcript record.
  7. 7. Qualification Form by Doctoral Degree Examination Committee (blank ver.).
  8. 8. NTUST Graduation Student Thesis Academic Ethics and Authentication of Original Statement (and its report).
  9. 9. Dissertation Draft (with formal format followed library announcements).

*Notice: If you have already submitted Opinion Sheet for Degree Thesis Professional Field Recognition but couldn’t print documents, please come to the department office.

On the day of oral defense :

  1. 1. Qualification Form by Doctoral Degree Examination Committee and Oral Defense Scoring Sheet (with barcode): filled out by committee members.
  2. 2. Graduate Student Thesis Academic Ethics and Authentication of Originality Statement and it’s report: provide it to committee members as reference.
  3. 3. Information form for oral exam committee members: given by the department office. Please take it to committee members to fill out for their remittance accounts.
  4. 4. Oral Exam Fee Reimbursement List: given by the department office. Please take it to committee members for signature.
  5. 5. Thesis/Dissertation Printed Copy Embargo: Submit the application form and certification documents to committee members at oral defense (Please refer to our Library's Guidelines for details).

After oral defense:

  1. 1. Submit Information form for oral exam committee members, Oral Defense Scoring Sheet, Information form for oral exam committee members and Oral Exam Fee Reimbursement List to the department office.
  2. 2. Qualification Form by Master Degree Examination Committee: needed our department Chair’s stamp and please keep it in your graduation dissertation.
  3. 3. Graduate Student Thesis Academic Ethics and Authentication of Originality Statement and its report: the comparison must be based on the graduation dissertation and must meet our department requirements.
